The Unlikely Road Back To Miami For Haley And Hanna Cavinder

Hurricanes advance to championship of Miami Thanksgiving Tournament

After a whirlwind journey that took them from the NCAA to Israel and back, twin sisters Haley and Hanna Cavinder have found their way back to the city where their basketball careers began. The former Miami Hurricanes have joined forces with the University of Miami's women's basketball team, hoping to reignite their college careers and make a run at a championship.

In 2022, the Cavinder twins left Miami after two seasons to pursue professional basketball in Israel. However, their time overseas was cut short due to injuries and contractual issues.

The sisters played for Elitzur Ramla in the Israeli Premier League. Haley averaged 14.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, while Hanna contributed 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

In December 2022, the Cavinders announced their return to the United States and their decision to rejoin Miami. They were immediately eligible to play due to NCAA transfer rules.

"The addition of Haley and Hanna is a game-changer for our program," said Hurricanes head coach Katie Meier. "They are proven scorers and rebounders at the college level and will provide us with a significant boost."

The Cavinder twins have only one season of eligibility remaining. They are determined to make the most of their opportunity and help Miami contend for an ACC championship and an NCAA Tournament berth.

"We couldn't be more excited to be back in Miami," said Haley Cavinder. "We're ready to work hard and represent our hometown once again."

The road back to Miami for Haley and Hanna Cavinder has been anything but ordinary. But with their talent, determination, and Miami's support, they have a chance to create a lasting legacy for themselves and their alma mater.
